Noise suppression in High-speed differential transmission systems e.g. USB2.0, IEEE1394, LVDS, DVI, HDMI and so on.

New; sub-miniature two-element common mode choke coils - from Murata of course! High density devices like cellular phones and digital cameras will benefit from the 30% footprint reduction and other features of our DLP1ND series.

Thanks to our advanced film microfabrication techniques, ferrite materials and circuit design capabilities these tiny arrays retain the ability to handle high-speed signals. They boast a coupling coefficient of 0.98 or better, ensuring low differential mode impedance in passband with minimal signal waveform distortion.

Furthermore, they are designed to match line impedances so that they suppress input signal reflection. This results in common mode noise suppression that has no negative effect on the high-speed signal waveform.

The series consists of four items, having common mode impedances of 67, 90, 120 and 160ohms ±20% at 100MHz. Minimum insulation resistance is 100Mohms and current ratings range from 60 to 80mA.

Nominal dimensions are 1.5x0.65x0.45mm (very thin). These little gems are non-polarised, contain no RoHS banned substances and can be auto-handled and reflow soldered; effectively two choke coils processed in one machine cycle, very efficient!

Smallest signal line EMI suppressers

We have just reduced the footprint of our smallest chip ferrite beads by ~ 40% and the volume by 30%. The smallest in the Industry, (again).

Our new BLM02 family has nominal dimensions of 0.4x0.2x0.2mm, matching the size reductions of other passive components. They provide EMI suppression and prevention of abnormal oscillation in cell phones power amplifier modules and those other space-limited designs that are increasingly popular.

These beads function almost like resistors at noise frequencies. They greatly reduce the danger of resonance and leave signal resonance and leave signal waveforms undistorted. They are especially useful when no stable ground-line is available because they need no ground connection.

The design generates impedance from relatively low frequencies so they are effective in noise suppression over a wide frequency range (typically 30MHz to several hundred MHz). We offer nominal values of 10, 70 and 120ohms, with rated currents of 500, 250 and 200mA respectively. Maximum DC resistance values are 0.1, 0.5 and 0.8 ohms and the operating temperature range is -55 C to 125 C.

The Pb-free Nickel-barrier external electrodes provide excellent soldering heat resistance for reflow soldering. Packaging is in paper tape (more accurate) containing 20,000 pieces and, another advantage, the smaller size yields a 33% reduction in reel-changes due to the increased capacity from the size reduction.

Inductor Technology

World's-best chip RF inductors

Features
The best in the industry
Highest Q
Tightest Inductance tolerances
Smallest volume for = performance
Lowest prices
Applications
Bluetooth
W-LAN
Mobile telephone RF modules
General RF circuits and modules

Highest Q, tightest tolerance, best price, best size; whatever your needs, Murata offers you the best in multilayer, film and wire-wound inductors.

Miniaturisation is constant in mobile applications; as is the demand for higher frequencies, better performance and lower prices. This creates the need for low-cost RF inductors with higher Q; tighter inductance tolerances and higher current/ lower DC resistance in progressively smaller packages. Our technologies give all this and our LQW, LQP and LQG inductors prove it.

Wire wound inductors

Our LQW Series provides the highest RF Q in the industry, with high selfresonant frequencies and tight tolerances. We offer four compact sizes, 0805, 0603, 0402 and 03015 with values of 0.47-2.20nH, 3.3- 470nH, 1.3-120nH and 1.1-33nH respectively in E-24 steps. Please note the LQW's superior performance shown in the Q comparison with a typical non-Murata product. As a specific example, the 0603 33nH has a typical Q of 90 at 1GHz, self-resonant frequency of 3.2GHz and tolerances of ±0.2 or 0.5nH, 2% or 5%. Who can beat this?

Film chip inductors

Our LQP family offers the tightest inductance tolerances in the world with the highest Q, in EIA 0603, 0402, 0201 and 01005 sizes. The 0402 gives 1.0nH to 3.9nH in 0.1nH steps, E-24 steps to 9.1nH and E-12 from there to 33nH. Tolerances as tight as 0.05nH are available up to 3.9nH with tight tolerances for all values. Typical Q is 30 at 1.0GHz and the rated current range is 60 to 390mA.

The 0201 LQP03T provides the highest Q RF performance with inductance tolerances of 0.1nH from 0.6 to 3.9nH in 0.1nH steps, 3% from 4.3 to 10nH and 3% or 5% between 12 and 56nH. Typical Q is 30 at 1GHz and 5.6nH. Rated currents are up to 420mA. This device has gold terminations for conductive epoxy bonding, but it has a secret. The combination of materials and structure increases circuit gain by reducing eddy current loss, providing over 20% higher Q than our or any competitors' product. Unbeatable!

And, our piece de resistance! For those extra-small spaces, the new 01005 (0.4mmx0.2mm). Hi Q, Pbfree and with values from 0.4 to 10nH in E-12 steps. Unbeatable again.

Multilayer/ monolithic chip inductors

Last but not least, the lowest cost available, our LQG family offers 1-270nH in the 0402 package designed and priced for applications where costs are critical. The wide inductance range in one tiny package minimises design and production costs, reducing the number of differing sizes to be accommodated. The best value money can buy!

Applications
Any automotive task requiring an audible message.
Better automotive sounders

Ceramic technology replacing older magnetic or dynamic products again! Save space, weight and money by using Murata Piezo Ceramic sounders instead.

There are too many options to list part numbers here, but they include simple SMD packages, diaphragms and small low profile circular formats that come packaged for automatic insertion or placement.

Taking advantage of extensive acoustic and mechanical design technologies with high performance ceramics, we have developed SMD piezoelectric sounders that suit the thin, high-density design of the latest electronic equipment. A further advantage is that the sound pressure level (SPL) can be permanently adjusted to suit the application by pre-setting the input voltage.

For example, the PKM17EPP-2002-BO is 17mm in diameter and 9mm high. Sound output: 3Vp-p/10cm: 60dB; 24Vp-p/10cm: 88dB and Bridged Transless Circuit/24V p-p/10cm: 94dB. Power consumption is low and it generates no magnetic field or EMI. The operating temperature range is -20 C to 70 C.

The PKLCS1212E offers high SPL and a clear tone at two and four kilohertz. It is designed for reflow soldering and supplied in tape and reel packaging for auto-processing.

Typical automotive applications for this family are seatbelt and key reminders, reverse hazard warning systems and the like. With appropriate inputs they also provide multi-tone alerts for items like turn signal indicators.

These are just examples of what the full range has to offer, so if you do not see exactly what you need here, do let us know what your requirements are, we probably have exactly what you require.

UHF Filters for RFID

Murata's CSTCE-XK ceramic resonators have been approved by Cypress, SMSC, NXP and NEC Electronics for use with ICs in their USB controllers, microcontrollers and Transceivers. They are also compatible with many other manufacturer's ICs.

This is another example of ceramic resonators replacing Crystal Oscillators, with all the performance and processing advantages that resonators bring.

In their latest application notes for their MoBL-USB and EZ-USB High speed controllers, Cypress said, “The resonator is a smaller package which also reduces the external part count. The resonator has internal load capacitors and therefor saves the additional space of the load capacitors the crystals require as external components. The Murata resonator can be used with the Cypress USB family of parts listed above (in app. notes) and meets the requirements that Cypress has for these parts to function properly.”

They also said, “The 24MHz resonator measures only 3.2 x 1.3 x 1.0 mm, providing a 90 percent board area saving and 70% reduction in thickness compared with an 11.35 x 4.65 x 3.5mm crystal commonly used in high-speed USB designs. This space saving is especially valuable in portable devices such as mobile handsets. Cypress recommends the device to customers as an alternative to crystals when space and/or tighter tolerance are concerns.”

In similar tone, SMSC's user guide says, “SMSC has qualified a resonator from Murata Electronics for use with their USB3290. The smaller footprint makes the resonator attractive in space-constrained mobile products.

An extract from NEC literature reads, “NEC has adopted (Murata's) CSTCEXK for (their) Reference Design Board with PD720114 and lists it on the Bill of Materials”.

These Industry leaders trust Murata technology and choose our resonators in place of crystals for the reasons they give. They also gain the advantages of about 100 times faster rise-time, automatic placement and reflow soldering.

The resonators they are all using will be characterised to match the IC employed. The CSTCE has nominal dimensions of 3.2x1.3mm with just 1.1mm maximum height. Nominal frequency is 24.000MHz-250ppm/ +200ppm. Frequency shift with temperature is ±150ppm maximum from 0 C to 70 C and built-in capacitance values of 5, 10 and 15pF are available.

Sensor Technology

Surface mounting infrared sensors

Features
Auto-handling No wires
Precision positioning
Superior electromagnetic noise resistance High sensitivity
Smallest and thinnest in the industry
Pb-free reflow soldering
Applications
Satisfying ISO objectives
Security devices
Automatic switches for lighting equipment
General automatic switching (LCD monitors, air conditioning and purifiers, ventilation et.al).

Yes, Surface Mounting Pyroelectric Infrared Sensors are available NOW - from Murata of course!

The World's first SMD PIRs bring all the benefits you would expect from changing to SMD format - and some you will not have thought of. Being Murata, the IRS-A200ST01-R1 series is not just close to the target, it instantly removes virtually all of the limitations of current leaded designs.

This is possible because our material researchers have developed a material that does not suffer the loss of sensitivity in the reflow soldering process that existing materials suffer. The design is also less susceptible to RF and thermal disturbance.

The obvious benefits are an immediate reduction of production costs from machine mounting PIRs with all the other SMDs; greater positional accuracy, height reduction of 60% and volume of 30%, no wires and no handling at soldering.

The new PIRs are the smallest and thinnest in the industry (6.7x5.7x2.6mm).

They are also lead-free, ideal for reflow soldering and compliant with RoHS requirements, so you can use them without adding to the world's problems.

There are less obvious advantages, for example, machine placement and reflow soldering provides precise positioning. With wires, the position of the actual sensor with respect to a target will vary depending on how the wires are positioned, and it is difficult to ensure lateral or vertical accuracy.

The high accuracy positioning now possible enhances the accuracy with which the optical field itself is positioned, thus allowing higher specification of field and function. This is further helped by availability of three special surface-mounting compact lenses that eliminate the need for troublesome optical design.
